Software manufacturing process

Coding used to be about syntax. Now it is about orchestration. Using agents has shifted the floor for human involvement. If you aren't acting as a Tech Lead, you are just a redundant relay for the LLM.

The job has fundamentally changed in three ways:

  • Management without the "HR Garbage": Do you spend time managing a team? Agents don't need 1:1s, career coaching, or motivation. They need precise instructions and brutal code reviews. "Payroll" is an API bill. "HR issues" are model drift and hallucinations.

  • Hyper-specialization at Scale: You don't need generalist juniors who are "okay" at everything. Deploy hundreds of specialized agents for specific tasks like SQL optimization or CSS. They work 24/7 without burnout.

  • The Human Bottleneck: Production is now infinite. The new restraining barrier is your own context window. The limit of the team is simply how much code I can personally verify and align with the organizational "why." My value isn't in writing lines. It is in keeping the fleet from flying into a mountain.

The danger is that agents are too compliant. They will build a bad architecture perfectly because they lack the spine to push back. So keep exploring and learning new things, talking to new people, and toying with new ideas!
