Nearly empty gyms
I love working out in nearly empty gyms, which I define as gyms that are operating at <20% but >0% capacity. I find I can lift heavier weights and finish quicker. I'm sure both of these are physically possible even if the gym is at 60% capacity. But I like it when I see a nearly empty gym.
And so, in the grand tradition of generalization, my hypothesis is that I function best in nearly-empty-gym-like environments. There should be SOMETHING going on in the arena: a thought or memory I've held on to, some not-crazy background activity (like a dishwasher), or some light, non-overstimulating music. I will try to make as many hours of the day as I can feel like nearly empty gyms.
