KGBaby (1/N)

A web browser-based, audio-only baby monitor where one device functions as a broadcast unit (child) and the other as a receiver unit (parent). I implemented the project with the aid of my three AI interns: Codex + Gemini CLI + VS Code. It is hosted on GitHub Pages. I plan to do lots of real-world testing over an upcoming weekend trip where we won't have access to our trusty Motorola AM21.

Developed a better understanding of building software products with AI:

  1. [Not nuanced] It is still amazing that you can just think of things and make them yourself in a few hours.

  2. Testing in the real world improves a product, not thinking about it. And for what it's worth, AI can't test a product in the real world. I can. You can.

  3. Testing reveals where stuff breaks. And that—coding for edge cases, reliability, and robustness—is as important as the core functionality or the UI/UX.

  4. Just hit go! It will never be perfect. So I posted about it on Show HN.

Next step: How do I incorporate AI into the product?
