Time

Is time absolute or relative? An hour is not the same for your brain, though it may be for the clock. An hour with a friend? Doing chores? Writing? Meeting at work? Traveling? Stuck in traffic? The first hour of a date? An hour in Paris? An hour in Paris with strangers?

All of these are different to your mind because of the volume, nature, or relevance of the memories that hour creates—let's call this the amount of "meaning" in that hour. The mind seems to intuitively understand and rank the quantity of "meaning" in each hour. It stack-ranks it and, based on that, decides what to retain and how much of it to retain.
